The Woodgies

Hi!
We are The Woodgies, two Swiss/Irish sisters who play & compose pop-folk music together. We were recently crowned "Swiss Rising Talent" by the Montreux Jazz Artist Foundation and our first album "Holding Hands" is available on all platforms.

We hope our music will bring you peace & harmony!

Lots of love,
Hannah Leah and Meghan

YouTube Video UCz5UgUzIPYdFo1lb-N38CVw_U6IeAFzOwbc 🌼 Back in 2015 we began taking guitar lessons with John Woolloff. He occasionally had to skip classes because he had big concerts in sold out arenas (as you do…). He showed us a video of him playing with a famous Swiss-German artist called Gölä 🎸. Little did we know that a few years later this same artist would be singing on one of our own songs!! Life is crazy…

Thank you John for putting us in contact❤️ And thank you Gölä for your time, kindness and enthusiasm🎶

« I’m feeling the love » is a song about how music brings all sorts of different people together. 🤝 In our minds we pictured ourselves being back in a pub in Ireland where people of all ages & backgrounds often join in music sessions. But feel free to make it your own!

Lyrics:

I’m walking down the busy road, is it just me or do they seem bored?
Each in their own world,
Not saying a word

So I reached out my hand to push the heavy door & as soon as my feet, they hit the floor
I knew I needed more
More than I did before

Cause soon enough our quiet hums will turn into full songs
And everybody will gather around
It won’t take long for us to make things work & to feel the trust
Let’s keep it going on and on

I’m feeling the love
In every single way
I’m feeling the love
It’s in the music that we play
Feeling the love
Feeling the love

As the beautiful sounds, they fill up the room, cheering up those who weren’t in the mood
Slowly they join in
Forget who’s watching

& their feet start to gently tap the ground, all together forming one big sound
Not much in common,
That’s been forgotten

Cause soon enough we’ll all be singing along to this one same song
Feeling like we finally belong
No we won’t stop playing, ‘til the lights are out & the night is done
We’ll keep it going on and on

I’m feeling the love
In every single way
I’m feeling the love
It’s in the music that we play
Feeling the love
Feeling the love

(Instru)

I’m feeling something

I’m feeling the love
In every single way
I’m feeling the love
It’s in the music that we play
Feeling the love
Feeling the love

I’m feeling the love
In every single way (Feeling the love girl, In every single way)
I’m feeling the love (I’m feeling the love yeah)
It’s in the music that we play (It’s in the music that we play)
Feeling the love (In every single way)
Feeling the love
It’s so good to feel this way

A traditional song!
Down By The Salley Gardens, a poem by W.B.Yeats.
Our single «Holding Hands» is one year old today! What better way to celebrate than singing outside

Lyrics:

I remember a day when these places weren’t so gray
The trees went up so high they’d cover up the sky
Plants, leaves and branches gently swaying in the wind
Many different colours and odors, where do I begin?

But where’s our empathy, don’t we have some self-control?
’Cause there are limits that we simply can’t ignore

We’re heading down a dangerous road towards a very different world

I know there was a time when man and nature were fine
They went hand in hand, felt no urge to be in command
But now all I see are rivers of concrete and dry land
It seems we’ve forgotten it’s not above all others we stand

But where’s our empathy, don’t we have some self-control?
’Cause there are limits that we simply can’t ignore

We’re heading down a dangerous road towards a very different world

It’s happening right before our eyes, there is no need to act surprised
Feel the guilt and hear the cries
I hope one day we’ll realize

The time has come to change this around, hear our feet thump on the ground

Lyrics:

There are so many choices that can lead me to different places
I find it hard to know which way to go
I could keep on tossing & turning, worrying about what to do
Or listen to those people who tell me ‘It will come to you’

The roads will go their separate ways
As they bring us further along the way
We must lift our head every single day
See the beauty every step of the way

Where to go, to go, to go, go
To go, to go, to go, to go

Life is a long old journey, not a destination
I’ll enjoy the wilderness of my own intuition
The wind will fill my sail & lead me away from the safe harbour
It’s only when I’m lost that I can truly discover

The roads will go their separate ways
As they bring us further along the way
We must lift our head every single day
See the beauty every step of the way

Where to go, to go, to go, go
To go, to go, to go, to go
Where to go, to go, to go, go
To go, to go, to go, to go

Stop looking out for the signs,
feeling like you have to follow the straight lines
Don’t be scared of being unprepared,
be proud of the fact that you dared

Stop looking out for the signs,
feeling like you have to follow the straight lines
Don’t be scared of being unprepared,
be proud of the fact that you dared

Where to go, to go, to go, go
To go, to go, to go, to go
Where to go, to go, to go, go
To go, to go, to go, to go

Lyrics:

We were only children, we were young
Holding hands & making plans to be forever together
Forever and ever

I look outside, just a glance
And I see you and me
We seem so happy, we seem so happy

We used to run, through the trees
Until we stumbled to our knees
But we helped each other up, always helped each other up

But one day, you let go
You left me, in the cold
You didn’t help me from my fall
You didn’t hold me anymore

We were only children, how were we supposed to know
that’s how it goes
Cause things disappear, although they are still near

And now we’ve grown and we’ve each gone our separate roads
Will they ever meet again?
Will we ever meet again?

But one day, you let go
You left me, in the cold
You didn’t help me from my fall
You didn’t hold me anymore

Anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore
Anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore

But one day, you let go
You left me, in the cold
You didn’t help me from my fall
You didn’t hold me anymore

Lyrics:

You leaned right over and hugged me tight
Hid your frown with a beautiful smile
Your wink of the eye just to help me get by
Your gentle squeeze of my hand

When I felt it, I melted
Cause I knew it, was a silent goodbye

Now you’re gone, so I look to the sky
Hear you whisper ‘please don’t cry’
Dry your tears, face your fears, be kind (x2)

Now you’re gone so I look inside
Wallow in the love you left behind
Feel the joy, feel the peace
I know you’re here and so very near

When I felt it, I melted
Cause I knew it, was a silent goodbye

Now you’re gone, so I look to the sky
Hear you whisper ‘please don’t cry’
Dry your tears, face your fears, be kind (x2)

You took flight in the middle of the night,
Not a trace just a big wide space.
Your gentle soul had played out its role,
Left me loved for that was your goal.

Now you’re gone, so I look to the sky Hear you whisper ‘please don’t cry’ Dry your tears, face your fears, be kind (x2)
